Grupo Clavijo expands in Asia with a 12.56 MW PV power plant in Sri Lanka

Saturday February 4th, 2017

Grupo Clavijo has consolidated its international expansion with the completion of the Solar One Ceylon solar photovoltaic project for the company Windforce. The facility, with 12.56 MW of power, has 624 single-axis trackers from the SP 160 model, which have 315/320 Wp polycrystalline modules manufactured by JA Solar. This solar farm is located in the town of Welikanda and was completed in five months.

Solar energy facilities in the south-east of Asia reached a total power of almost 5 GW in 2016, and this is estimated to grow by an average of 50% per year in the region over the next five years. Itis currently one of the most attractive areas for developing photovoltaic solar projects, along with countries like China and India.

This project has consolidated the internationalisation of the Spanish firm, which has now installed over 1.2 GW across the world, with over 600 MW in development in various countries. Its commitment to the most advanced tracking technology and its capacity to develop projects in any country in the world are behind the international growth of the company. Grupo Clavijo is presenting the most reliable and efficient trackers for the global photovoltaic market at Solar Power International 2016.

Thursday August 18th, 2016

The Spanish company Grupo Clavijo will once again be attending the Solar Power International trade show (from 12 to 15 September) in La Vegas (NV, USA), with the latest generation of its advanced single-axis trackers.

After more than 12 years of work by its entire engineering and R&D team, aimed at developing leading single-axis technology, Grupo Clavijo is now able to offer the global photovoltaic sector the SP160 (single-row) and SP1000 (multi-row) models, whose outstanding features include their optimal reliability (demonstrated in over 16 installations completed), and their reliability/efficiency in adverse weather conditions (from -5ºC to + 50ºC and at altitudes of up to 1000 m), thanks to the circuit board and microprocessor which incorporate advanced wind control software that enables pre-flag positions, thus ensuring the tracker`s structural integrity.

In an effort to continuously improve the performance of its trackers, so that they are increasingly cost effective for developers and EPC contractors, Grupo Clavijo has also developed a new spherical bearing for its single-axis trackers which, in addition to the benefits already found in the previous model (lubrication and maintenance free, UV and ageing resistance and adaptation to complicated terrain), now also includes a faster assembly time.  Our last bearing design is able to absorb the axis alignment variations where the photovoltaic modules are installed, a unique feature in single-row and multi-row solar trackers. The manufacturing quality has recently been acknowledged by the certification it obtained for the execution of steel structures for the structural components that it designs and manufactures, according to UNE-EN 1090-1, with execution class EXC2, certifying the quality of its structural calculations for the sizing of components, its factory production control and the performance of those components.

All of these innovations will be exhibited at stand #2560 in the Las Vegas Convention Center in September.

Grupo Clavijo has production centres in Spain, the USA, Brazil, Chile and South Africa. It has recently opened new offices in Miami and San Francisco (USA), in addition to the ones it already has in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Chile, Brazil and its corporate headquarters in Viana (Navarra, Spain). This global presence allows it to offer a comprehensive service in any country in the world, where its trackers are present with over 1.2 GW installed.
