MIREC 2016 (Mexico): the SP 160 tracker and a new key piece which will drastically change assembly ratios, the main new developments for Grupo Clavijo

Monday April 18th, 2016

The Spanish company Grupo Clavijo is attending the latest edition of MIREC Week in Mexico with important new developments. On the one hand, it is presenting its SP 160 single-axis tracker, which, among other benefits, offers versatility for configuring modules in 1V, 2V and 3H and configuring 1000 and 1500 V, minimum maintenance costs and fast installation. Also, it does not require a push bar to gain access between rowsof trackers. An advanced and versatile tracker that perfectly adapts to any type of solar photovoltaic project.

On the other, Grupo Clavijo has developed anew spherical bearing for its single-axis trackers. In addition to the benefits already found in the previous model (no maintenance and easy installation), we can also add a faster assembly time (as it is made up of fewer pieces), the capacity to absorb a working angle greater than 55 degrees with structural systems that reduce the centre of mass and decrease the consumption necessary for movement, and greater resistance to strain.

Grupo Clavijo´s strong commitment to offering its customers the latest technology in single and multi-row tracking and its quality of service allows it to develop major photovoltaic projects, with over 700 MW installed in the LATAM area and over 1.2 GW around the world. It is currently the only manufacturer offering the two main monitoring systems and with the greatest track record in the market for both technologies.

Grupo Clavijo and Brafer: strategic partnership to promote photovoltaic projects in Brazil

Grupo Clavijo and Brafer: strategic partnership to promote photovoltaic projects in Brazil

Monday January 11th, 2016

CLAVIJO, a leading Spanish solar tracker company and BRAFER, one of the largest and most traditional Brazilian steel structure manufacturers, have signed an agreement that will provide developers, installers and EPC contractors with access to the most advanced technology in fixed structures and solar trackers for their projects in Brazil.

The Spanish company Grupo Clavijo and the Brazilian firm Brafer have reached a strategic partnership agreement that will allow them to combine the latest technology in solar tracker design and performance with the highest quality of manufacturing in the country. Brafer brings to the table its long and proven track record in manufacturing steel structures with its own galvanisation plant, while the Spanish company is considered one of the top global companies in the solar tracker sector. The agreement will allow them to undertake major photovoltaic projects in Brazil, which today has more than 2.5 GW of solar photovoltaic energy scheduled to be installed in the coming two to three years as a result of auctions held by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) in 2014 and 2015. The agreement will also respond to other demands in the Latin American market.

The two companies are ready to begin projects in Brazil, with solar trackers manufactured in Brazil and financed by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). The Clavijo SP1000 single-axis solar tracker was authorised in November under FINAME code: 3254480.

Brafer Construções Metálicas S/A (www.brafer.com) is a Brazilian company with more than 40 years of experience in the steel structures sector, supplying and assembling these structures. It develops and implements engineering designs, manufacturing at its three production units (Araucária, PR, Rio de Janeiro, RJ and Juiz de Fora, MG), with a transformation capacity of more than 6,000 t/month. It has its own galvanisation unit that has a capacity of up to 2,100 t/month and which employs more than 1,200 people. It is currently finalising plans for implementing a new galvanisation unit with a capacity of more than 4,200 t/month, which is expected to go into operation in the second quarter of this year.

Tuesday December 22nd, 2015

The Spanish company Grupo Clavijo is continuing its expansion in the United States with various installations using horizontal single-axis solar trackers.

The multinational Japanese company Solar Frontier has begun to integrate its latest thin film panels in single-axis solar tracker systems via a strategical agreement with the Spanish company Grupo Clavijo. It is the first time that this integration has been successful. Thanks to this collaboration, the projects implemented with both of these advanced technologies are able to achieve greater overall efficiency for the installations into which they are integrated.

The most recent projects completed in collaboration in the United States include 18.7 MW (Morelos in Lost Hills, California) using the SP-1000 tracker model and 22 MW (Calipatria, California) also using model SP-1000. Furthermore, in 2015 Grupo Clavijo also installed 3.4 MW in Fresno, California (Cogeneración project).

The Spanish company, which this year will reach 1 GW of installed power, has projects planned for 2016 in the United States that will consist of 400 MW, taking into account the dynamic American solar photovoltaic market.

Grupo Clavijo is one of the leading international companies in the design, production, assembly and maintenance of structures and trackers for the solar photovoltaic market. It is active in Europe, America and Asia, and also has branches in the United States, Chile and Abu Dhabi.

Solar Frontier (www.solar-frontier.com) is a Japanese company with more than thirty years of experience in R&D in the solar sector. Their main activity is the production and sale of thin film CIS (copper, indium, selenium) photovoltaic modules, the development of power plant projects and energy production deals.

Spanish company Grupo Clavijo has supplied solar trackers for the Santa Julia project in the Chilean town of Petorca, in the Valparaiso region. For this 3.6 Mw facility, owned by Sonnedix and with Chilean firm iEnergia as EPC contractor, the Spanish company supplied SP 160 single-row single-axis trackers. The SP 160 single-axis tracker is renowned for its wireless communication system, sturdiness and flexibility as regards the placement of the modules (with optimal use of the surface), and for its spherical bearing — patented by Grupo Clavijo — which is maintenance-free.

Grupo Clavijo will attend Solar Power International 2015 with an innovative and advanced single-axis tracker

Tuesday September 1st, 2015

The Spanish firm Grupo Clavijo, a world leader in photovoltaic solar structures and trackers, will be present at Solar Power International 2015 (Anaheim, California, USA) to introduce its new single-axis tracker (SP160), thework of its R&D&I team.

The SP160 tracker represents the optimization of Grupo Clavijo´s single-row tracking technology. While maintaining an excellent quality of the materials, the innovative new design has improved a number of key components, including the panel supports. Greater motor efficiency has also been achieved, resulting in a significant decrease in energyc onsumption, thus freeing motor power for cases in which repositioning is vital due to windspeeds.

The Grupo Clavijo research and development team has made great advances in the manufacturing of trackers for various thin-film panels, customised for eachclient. Th ecombination of this panel type with Clavijo´s made-to-measure tracking technology is being very well received, especially in the American market. In short, this tracker is highly versatile, efficient and cost-effective.

The Spanish company is once again demonstrating its commitment to the on going investment in tools for generating power, fast reaction calculations, and combinations of the two, through the improvement of in-house software developed by a highly-trained technical team and with the support of an executive committee that is oriented towards continual improvement.

With 975 MW installed all over the world and plans to surpass 1 GW in 2016, Grupo Clavijo is currently one of the world´s leading companies in the solar structure and tracker sector, with a presence around the world and offices in Chile, the USA and Abu Dhabi.
